Many people don't realize the importance of lifting objects properly in order to avoid hurting their backs. One of the leading causes of back injuries are due to people lifting heavy objects improperly. In this article I will go over the proper procedures for lifting heavy objects in order to avoid back pain.Lifting things doesn't have to be hazardous, whether you're at home or at work. Many people put lots of stress on their backs on a regular basis, especially those who have jobs in warehouses or delivery companies. Even those who don't spend lots of time lifting heavy objects can make their backs prone to injury over time even if they lift small objects if they do it improperly. There are two primary mistakes that many people make when lifting objects. The first mistake is using the wrong muscles to lift up objects. You're supposed to use the muscles in your legs and buttocks instead of the muscles in your back.It is always important to bend your knees when lifting an object off the floor. This gives your spine a level foundation and avoids putting too much stress on it. It is important to keep your upper body vertical when lifting instead of horizontal. Having your upper body horizontal will put a lot of stress on your lower back. This pressure could be hundreds of pounds, and eventually you'll suffer a slipped disc or sprain. The second mistake people often make is lifting an object too far from their bodies. It is important to be as close as possible to whatever you're lifting. By holding the object close to you, the amount of pressure exerted on your spine is reduced. You want to hold the object by its center and keep it eight inches away from you when you lift. Keep your upper body vertical and use the muscles in your knees and buttocks in order to lift it. By doing this you avoid damaging you back. You also want to avoid twisting your upper body when you left objects as this can add pressure to your spine as well.Lifting objects properly in order to avoid back pain is important. If you lift a ten pound object at arms length, you are putting at least one hundred and fifty pounds of pressure on your lower back. If you hold an eighty eight pound object at arms length, a massive seven hundred pounds is being exerted on your back.
Though no records of such cases exist (this could be due to any number of reasons), it is possible that mankind has suffered from the problem that is depression for as long as there has been civilization to depress people. There have been herbal treatments for almost every condition known to man, with some of them actually being found to have a decent scientific basis for the lore. While recognizing depression as a problem and not merely sadness is a relatively modern phenomenon, that does not mean that the herbal lore of the ancients should be disregarded. As amazing as it might sound, it is possible to find a natural antidepressant in today's market. The most commonly suggested "natural antidepressant" would be St. John's Wort, which has also been suggested as an herbal remedy for everything from constipation to muscle pain. According to medical science, the leaves contain a number of natural antidepressants or chemicals that often appear as base ingredients in a wide range of common depression medication. Typically, using this can have noticeable positive effects on mild depression in about two weeks. However, for more severe cases, the usual time frame is closer to around six months of regular use. St. John's Wort should be taken with food, but taking it with alcohol should be avoided to minimize the chances of developing side effects. Note that this has been known to interact with other medications, so a pharmacist might also be consulted for more information.Gingko-biloba has also been cited as a potential natural antidepressant, though there hasn't been too much testing on this possibility. This particular substance has a number of components that boost the blood circulation to the brain. Since depression can be caused by a lack of proper blood flow to the brain, the use of gingko-biloba can be helpful in this regard. However, it should be noted that not all cases of depression are caused by a lack of proper blood circulation to the brain. In other words, this may not be the best treatment for every depressed individual, depending solely on what caused the depression in the first place. Gingko-biloba, according to some recent findings, can be successful in treating depression in cases where standard medication fails.Valerian, which has long been known as an herb that can combat anxiety attacks, has also been linked to depression. Since anxiety and depression tend to be encountered in the same patients, Valerian has sometimes been used as a means of treating both conditions with just one herb. Valerian has also been used to treat insomnia, which is similar to anxiety in that both are medical conditions that are often closely linked to depression. Valerian works by releasing a number of compounds into the body that boost production of gamma-aminobutyric acid, which is an inhibitory chemical used by the central nervous system.Gotu kola, an ayurvedic herb, has also been used as a natural antidepressant. Among practitioners of ayurvedic medicine, in is known as brahmi. The dried stems, flowers, and leaves of this particular plant contain a host of components that can be useful for treating depression and anxiety, including asiatic acid and madecassic acid. It has also been known to help people improve their moods, as well as having benefits for memory and concentration.
Some people ask themselves if it's okay to engage in premarital sex and in their minds try to weigh its pros and cons. There are couples who engage in premarital sex way before they even get into high school. At the onset of puberty, kids begin to be curious about their sexuality. And without proper guidance, these kids explore and venture into the realm of the senses without much thought of the dire consequence of their impulsive actions. Come to think of it, teens are not the only ones guilty of such wanton behavior but even adults as well. Indeed, the world has shaped a permissive attitude towards premarital sex. On the positive side of the scale, there is peer acceptance and the gratification of sexual desires. After all, the kind of message we receive in the media today, be it on TV or in the movies, is that everyone is doing it. But its downside carries the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancy, and the heavy weight of moral consequence such as guilt. Thus, morality plays a vital role in dealing with the issues about premarital sex. But for those couples who have learned to wait, the prospect of married life and eventually, raising their own family becomes a satisfying experience.Parenthood is one of the noblest tasks a married couple has to take as they carry on with their relationship. Some who are not blessed to have their own children would even go to the extent of adopting someone elses child just so they can experience parenthood. In most countries, there is no limit as to the number of children couples can have as long as he can provide for their needs and welfare. However, due to economic considerations, many couples have decided to put a limit to the number of kids they want to raise, much to the consternation of the church. We all know that the church advocates procreation and is totally against family planning or birth control. Thus, we are faced with the dilemma of choosing between having a big and happy brood than a small but a well-planned family. Family planning is not just to limit the number of kids a family but is also a means to improve the quality of life of each family member. Its not just about "birth control" but laying a solid foundation for a better future. The type of birth control you choose depends on your needs. Some people only need to prevent pregnancy. Modern couples try not to have babies in the first two years of marriage in order for them to enjoy each other as husband and wife. This will enable them to have strong bonding and prepares them for the coming of their future children. If and when they decide to have kids, they try to plan or limit the number and succession of their offspring. By doing so, they are able to manage and monitor the needs of their children in terms of their financial, emotional, and physical capabilities. Other couples may also resort to contraceptives to protect themselves or their partners from diseases that can be passed on by having sex. These diseases are called sexually transmitted diseases (STDs): AIDS, chlamydia, herpes, genital warts, gonorrhea, and syphilis.Statistics released by Planned Parenthood shows that birth control paved the way for improved family life: The maternal death rate has fallen more than 60 percent. The infant death rate has declined by more than 70 percent. Birth control not only saves lives it helps women and their families prevent poverty, plan their futures, and take charge of their destinies. To decide which method to use at this point in your life, talk with your family doctor about the pros and cons of each birth control option. Better yet, think before you do.
Since the tap water scares of the early 1990s, intense marketing campaigns have convinced consumers that bottled water is the only safe alternative to the tap. But do-it-yourself options like home water filtration systems are generally more convenient and less expensive than bottled water, which costs consumers $22 billion per year.A closer look into the water that glints so refreshingly within its plastic bottle reveals some startling facts: According to the National Resources Defense Council, 40 percent of all bottled water is nothing more than local tap water, transferred from the pipe to the plastic with little or no treatment.Despite this, the average cost of bottled water is 1,000 times that of tap water. These high prices should suggest higher filtration standards for bottled water. However, the Food and Drug Administration sets the same or lower standards for bottled water that the Environmental Protection Agency sets for tap water.According to the National Resources Defense Council, this leads to about 22 percent of all bottled water having below-standard levels of contaminants such as E. coli and fecal coliform. So what's the alternative when neither taps nor bottles are good enough? At Filters Fast (www.filtersfast.com) we recommend incorporating a water filtration system into the home. Consumers not only save money, they actually gain control over the quality of their own water.Families using home water filtration systems enjoy water that is free of most dangerous contaminants, while the plastics used in water bottles can leach harmful carcinogens into water after just a few months on the shelf. After only one day of being open, those plastic bottles become bacteria factories.Plastic water bottles also harm the environment. The Earth Policy Institute reports that 2.7 million tons of plastic are used to bottle water each year, 86 percent of which is never recycled. At Filters Fast, we provide our clients with a huge array of options, from refrigerator filters, to under-sink filters, to whole-house filtration systems. We urge consumers not to become overwhelmed or deterred by the variety of systems available. We have experts that can answer your questions and help you select the right system to meet your needs.
